WHO ARE THE AAPI JAZZ COLLECTIVE?
The AAPI Jazz Collective is a diverse group of established AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) identifying jazz musicians and artists. The ensemble specializes in performing classic repertoire from a wide array of Asian cultures; reimagining familiar folk and classic songs within a jazz context.
The ensemble celebrates and connects with their respective cultures through music and storytelling. Focused on both classic and new repertoire from various Asian countries, this ensemble introduces AAPI culture and talent to audiences who are unfamiliar with their culture.
The AAPI Jazz Collective has performed for many venues, festivals, and organizations, including the 2022 Lunar New Year Celebration at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 2022 Passport to Taiwan Festival, and even for Taiwan’s Vice President, Lai Ching-Te’s transit through NYC. The ensemble has also performed a monthly residency at The Red Pavilion in Brooklyn, featuring a variety of talented artists.
